Farmville Housing Development Corporation (FHDC) is a public housing agency that helps provide decent and safe rental housing for eligible low-income families, the elderly, and persons with disabilities. The Farmville Affordable Homeownership Program (FAHP) is an effort by the Town of Farmville and the Farmville Housing Development Corporation (FHDC-a local non-profit) to produce affordable homeowners in Farmville. The Town of Farmville recognized the need for additional opportunities for low and moderate income families in Farmville. The Town implemented the FAHP in response to this need.
Farmville Housing Development Corporation, the local non-profit, was formed by the Town to sponsor and facilitate affordable housing programs. FHDC is controlled by its own Board of Directors comprised of local citizens from Farmville.
All properties are currently occupied and no affordable homes are currently available. Plans are being made and new construction will begin within a few months. Stay tuned to these sties as well as visit our neighborhood on Brandon Street to see the beginning of something new and exciting!
To be eligible a family cannot exceed 80% of the Pitt County median household income based on family size. HUD updates median household guidelines annually. Buyers will need a minimum down payment. Rental payments must be on time for the past 12 months and all debts current. FHDC accesses funding from North Carolina Housing Finance Agency, North Carolina Community Development Initiative and Pitt-Greenville Consortium to make the dream of owning a home in Farmville a reality.
